About Us

St. Louis Treasury Management

The St. Louis Treasury Management Association (STLTMA) provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, best practices, and techniques related to treasury management, finance, investment, and banking. We encourage our members to strengthen their professional development through participation, education, and networking. STLTMA also promotes collaboration and unity among members, local businesses, financial institutions, government agencies, and educational organizations throughout the St. Louis region.

Established in 1977, the St. Louis Treasury Management Association (STLTMA) is a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to advancing treasury, finance, and cash management practices throughout the St. Louis region.
Our purpose is to create a vibrant community where finance and treasury professionals can exchange ideas, share innovations, and strengthen our network of peers across industries.

Who We Are

STLTMA’s membership represents a wide cross-section of regional companies, banks, universities, hospitals, and government entities. With approximately 100 members, our association brings together professionals from organizations both large and small who share a commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and the advancement of treasury excellence.

What We Do

We hold eight monthly meetings and a half‑day Spring Conference, featuring respected guest speakers discussing timely and relevant treasury topics.
Members earn continuing‑education credits, including CTP, CPE, and FP&A certifications through regular program participation.
Each December, our members gather for our annual Holiday Party, a long‑standing tradition that celebrates the relationships built within our treasury community.

Leadership & Affiliations

STLTMA is governed by a Board of Directors, elected by our membership, including officers such as President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice Presidents for Programs and Membership.
We proudly support and collaborate with the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) — our national affiliate — to promote continuing education, certification, and ethical standards across corporate finance disciplines.

A Message from Our Founder

“The past is mine, the present is ours, but the future is yours.”
— Norm Appelman, STLTMA and AFP Founder

Norm Appelman, one of the founding members of both STLTMA and AFP, offered this timeless message to AFP ahead of its 2020 Virtual Conference.
His reflections remind us how far treasury management has evolved — from the days of manual cash transfers and rotary phones to today’s sophisticated digital tools — and how crucial our shared mission remains: to secure, innovate, and lead in the world of finance.

Looking Ahead

As STLTMA enters into its fifth decade, we continue to strengthen our community of professionals dedicated to education, networking, and collaboration. Whether you’re an experienced practitioner or new to treasury management, we invite you to join our tradition of excellence and help shape the future of our industry.
